A hoax classifies an event as being false. How to determine truth from hoax involves considering three variables: coverups, easy-outing, or genuine pranking.

Anomalous events and paranormal phenomena are often covered up as part of disinformation protocols.

Easy outEdit

Debunkers will take the easy-out, because its easier to call an anomalous event or paranormal phenomena as a hoax, than to get out in the field.

A hoax is an attempt to trick an audience into believing that something false is real. Most alien sightings or claims of alien existence are proven as hoaxes, however many conspiracy theorists believe that the government also covers up real sightings and only reports them as a hoax for the sake of national security.[1]
